First in Italy, Sicily won the prestigious international recognition awarded by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT), becoming the European winner among around forty candidate regions.
As a Consortium we are proud to have been among those who signed the memorandum of understanding and contributed to the drafting of the dossier for the candidacy, together with the Department of Agriculture of the Region of Sicily, the DOC Sicily Consortium, the Modica chocolate consortium and a representation of local hospitality schools, to the candidacy which proved to be a winning bet and a highly-deserved recognition for a region with an immense food-and-wine and cultural heritage.
On Sunday, October 8th in Palermo, the relationship between food and culture will once again be the theme of the meeting, in which we will participate as we do every year, organized by the American non-profit Old Ways to promote the Mediterranean diet.
