Study day on viticultural biodiversity in Sicily

The viticultural biodiversity of Sicily will be the protagonist of a special study day, scheduled for Saturday May 20th, 2023 at 10 am, in the Lanza Room of the Botanical Garden/SiMuA – University of Palermo.
Organized by the University of Palermo, in collaboration with the Georgofili Academy – South-West Section, the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine, the Italian Botanical Society – Sicilian Section and our Consortium, the event includes a speech on the theme of domestication and enhancement of the biodiversity of the vine by Rosario Schicchi (Director of the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo) and Francesco Sunseri (Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria).
On the other hand, Rosario Di Lorenzo (President of the Italian Academy of Vine and Wine) will present the project “Enhancement of Sicilian Grape Germplasm”; the day will be concluded with a speech by Vincenzo Pernice (Director of the F. Paulsen Government Nursery).
As part of the event, it will also be possible to visit the exhibition of watercolors by the artist Veronica Hadjiphani Lorenzetti on the theme: “The viticultural biodiversity of Sicily. An iconographic contribution that accompanies the history of agriculture”.
